Introduction

The Quinones paid a huge amount of money to the Context building company to build their dream home but their dream becomes a nightmare for them. Their dream house becomes a huge disaster. Their house builds with various flaws like broken windows. Floors plagued their new home and many more. Buying a new home is the most expensive investment in everyone's life so all the people need to be conscious of all the issues regarding the poorly built homes. I have experienced these things because my parents also did the same mistake and suffered from the consequences of the substandard building with an absorbent roof for more than 10 years. It has been important for the Government to take some stern steps and stop the constructors from building a substandard building in the locality. To protest this unethical practice of the builders we need to investigate the main problem of poorly built homes then find the causes behind this situation. We need to well aware of every fact before finally working to endorse some solutions so that our dream home is not a dog house.

Problems

The people have to deal with various problems regarding poorly built homes. It has been essential for all the people to get to well aware of every fact before finally working to endorse some solutions so that our dream home is not a dog house (Baker, 2002).

A. Substandard workmanship

Substandard workmanship is the main problem which includes various interior problems like toilets of the house is to properly cemented down, floors of the house are not tiled appropriately, roofs of the house are to fit correctly and sloppy molding of the walls (Okoye, 2018).

B. Nature intrudes

Nature intrudes includes various problems like sloppy molds helps to grow air ducks in the wall. Leaks can be found in the improperly sealed windows, the foundations improperly settle.

C. No accountability

The poorly built house has no responsibility for the problems of subcontracting poor labor, overworked state inspectors, claiming the cosmetic problems and country code enforcement lax (Collins, 2003).

Causes

There can be various causes behind this type of faulty construction of the house.

A. Faulty materials

Faulty material is one of the main reasons behind this kind of faulty construction of the house. Supplies of substandard raw materials, buying materials in bulk, buying unsuitable land are the main three reasons that increase the chances of faulty construction (Demirkesen and Arditi, 2015).

B. Subcontractors

Contractors were also equally responsible because it is their responsibility to check all the aspects are perfect or not. Apart from this, unskilled labor is another reason behind poor construction. Sometimes the labors deliberately work badly because of their substandard payment (Al-Tmeemy and amer Hatem, 2015).

C. Money

Money is the most important factor that helps to run the business. But it has also become the main obstruction for the business. Sometimes contractors think they can move in and get things fixed; sometimes contractors stop the bills that would make them pay a huge amount of fine so they cut the budget from the on process buildings. On the other hand, Corporations have no personal investment (Darden, 2003).

Solutions

It has been essential for every corporation or government to rake some steps to solve the problem of poor construction. Firstly, it is essential to make corporations liable for contractor secondly it is also important for every corporation to control the subcontractors. Thirdly, the corporation should take a strong step against poor contractors. Being the responsible citizen it is our responsibility to find the solutions to solve this unethical practice of poor construction or poorly built homes. Firstly, find out all the builders in the area. Secondly, check the better business bureau. And finally, it is important to have eager to walk away from the poor construction (Gautam et al., 2016).

Conclusion

Buying a new house is the most essential and expensive investment in everyone's life. So everyone needs to get completely conscious about all the issues regarding the poorly built homes. It is also essential for people to do their homework before buying their dream house. The entire speech puts light upon the problem of poorly built homes, analyzed some causes, before providing solutions to the problem. To concludes this speech it can be stated that it is essential for everyone to prepare themselves to be knowledgeable and in control so that they can avoid being in a negative situation like the Quinones and truly have the dream home.

Editor's analysis

What this essay does well, and where it could be stronger.

Opens with concrete case (Quinones family) before pivoting to personal connection
Uses parallel structure in problem/cause/solution sections for navigability
Specific catalog of construction failures gives weight to abstract claims
Introduction's final sentence runs three clauses without a clear hierarchy of claims
Solutions section lists actions but doesn't explain how they address the causes enumerated earlier
Personal anecdote in introduction isn't revisited – leaves the frame incomplete
Several instances of unclear pronoun reference ('it has been essential' – what has?)
